My One Woman Show (The Search for a Truthful Moment)

Genius show! Loved it. It's the best show I've ever seen at the HF. Superb acting and writing and you are on the edge of your seat all the way with no idea of where it is going to go next. It has everything and is at turns hilarious and deeply moving. So brilliant to see this calibre of work at the fringe. Thank you Stefan Marks!... full review

This was an interesting dystopian take on the future that definitely made me think. It has shades of Hunger Gameswhile also asking big questions about resources, war, politics, and what happens when we start running out of what we need. The concept was thought-provoking, and even though the show takes place in 1 location, it keeps building and evolving as the characters come in. Kaitlyn gave a really strong performance and brought a lot of emotion and depth to the world. If you like dystopi... full review

Body as an Archive

This show was absolutely mesmerizing. Seeing this young woman embody the energy of her child self...reliving these complex childhood moments with such an innocent lens, and then seeing her grow and reflect and actually hold in her body the truth of what happened to her....it moved me to tears. To see her reclaim her body onstage in a brilliantly choreographed and performed closing piece flooded me with feelings of hope and possibility for all of the repressed artists out there searching for the p... full review

NILBOG! the Troll 2 musical

NILBOG! Where have you been all my life!? When do I get to bring 20 friends and experience you again!? This was, easily, the best show I had the privilege of seeing at this year's Fest. Am I biased because I love the movie so much? Maybe, but that's exactly what I loved about this show so much -- this is a show written and performed by individuals who clearly love this movie, and endeavor beat by beat by beat to bring it to life on stage, as opposed to changing it up. Every actor channels the... full review

This show is equal parts stand-up, musical comedy, and moving! It’s the perfect mix of deeply personal and heartfelt (she weaves together her childhood and past versions of herself so well) and effortlessly hilarious and entertaining. I’d say Bo Burnham-esque, chaotic, erotic, hilarious sex positive, intimate, vulnerable standup cabaret special??? I was sooo engaged the whole time. Harper is insanely funny and her voice is gorgeous! The original music is funny annd catchy!! This genuinely ... full review

FANTASTIC show! Beyond the Valley of the Dolls meets Almost Famous meets Faust, and in all the best ways. Killer 80's-inspired soundtrack met with fun characters, amazing voices, and show-stopping harmonies. All this, and a body count! Had a blast with this one, highly recommended!... full review

This was a blast! I got a little bit of a workout, too! Comedy is always at its best when funny and irreverent humor are matched with great chemistry between its performers, and the experience feels sort of like a hang between friends. A beautiful and original approach to explore themes of mortality, regret, resentment, and acceptance, with a twist of inevitable self-admission and atonement. Total Horror Show is an absolute blast! Equal parts suspenseful, funny, campy, and weird, it had me hooked from the very beginning. I genuinely had no idea where the story was headed, and the twists completely caught me off guard. Do yourself a favor and go in as blind as possible (it makes the experience that much more fun)! The music is entertaining, the audience interaction is engaging, and the entire cast commits wholeheartedly to the show's wonderfully chaotic energy. I was laughing one m... full review

Elphaba and Galinda, Thelma and Louise...there are moments in life where a chance meeting redirects the course of who we are meant to be. GIRLFRIENDS is intimate storytelling of the highest level about larger themes of identity and connection that cannot be contained within its blackbox performance space. I found Johnny Cannizzaro's show "In Development..." to be exactly what is the best of Hollywood Fringe. A show that is truly a person working through a process and taking us along on the journey. This show took us on a journey of Johnny's inner thoughts and feelings about what it means to be an artist who has been at it for a while and how one's feelings can change and if that change is to hide or to serve. It leaves you thinking deeply about the roads we have all chosen in life and are we revea... full review

Natalia is impossibly intelligent and an extraordinary entertainer! The most eclectic and specific experiences as a scientist combined with outstanding charisma make this a show to write home about! The breadth and detail she explores without dumbing down things for her audience (or at least making us feel smart as she dumbs things down) was excellent and the different presentational styles over the course of the show kept me interested and engaged the entire time!... full review
