It takes an incredibly skilled performer to get you to laugh about grief, and Dara does exactly that. In the very first minute, you're pulled into the love that Dara's family has for each other and taken on a journey into how that love presents itself when faced with darkness. Oftentimes at Fringe I see musicals written by folks who don't really know how to do it. This is NOT one of those shows. Jimi Darkness is the textbook definition of a rock musical in the best way, adapting Byous' concept album for the stage with tunes that won't leave your head for days. Dara Kosberg’s Homecoming is an incredibly emotional, passionate, hilarious, and nostalgic piece of theater. Dara takes the audience on a journey through grief that is just the right combination of heartwarming and laugh-out-loud funny. Her/her character is brilliantly vulnerable with her flaws and insights all fully exposed. Her character is in no way perfect, but she plays ever beat perfectly. Big With a B was exactly what was needed. Brianna captures a life that is both incredibly special and uniquely personal, yet so deeply relatable. As a big girl, this meant everything to me. There’s nothing like watching a body that’s been told ‘no’ say ‘yes’! The show touches on so many emotional moments in a young girl’s life and reminds the audience to show up for themselves and the different bodies that surround them.
