STRONG STOIC STRAITZ: ALPHA PODCAST FOR MALE KINGS (a musical)

Strong Stoic Straitz is a razor-sharp, wildly-funny satire of the manosphere and alt-right culture at large. But as absurd as it gets, Strong Stoic Straitz never loses sight of the fact that these characters are complicated people. Even if their humanity is buried deep, DEEP underneath conservative indoctrination. I appreciated that kind of nuance in a show that is purposefully full of a lot of bluster....

Wow it was brilliant. It moved and surprised me.
I've seen Between Two Worlds twice now and the second time hit differently. I noticed more and it touched me in a new way
TL is doing something that I found difficult for the shows that I have seen; it made me laugh, broke me heart, and I learned things and it changed my assumptions about d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing identity. The stories she shares are vulnerable in the truest sense....

Jared Keil, the writer and the performer of this one-man show, is a poet and a wordsmith. As an actor as well, in both theatre and film, he brings all of his talents at once to this project; I saw many audience members literally shaking their head when leaving the theatre after witnessing his ability to describe in such clear and poetic depth the intimate details of his internal and external life that brought him to this point. Surely, very few humans can -- or even would -- stand on a stage alon...

Strange Beings opens with a dark, brooding atmosphere and an ominous entrance. Knowing absolutely nothing about the show going in, I was quickly drawn in by its impressive technical design and thoughtfully constructed set. While the premise involves an alien encounter and a malfunctioning translator aboard a courier ship, the real drama unfolds between its two pilots, Mina and Caleb. The play has a surprising emotional intelligence, exploring themes of avoidance, vulnerability, and the ways peop...

Bean vs the Robots is a wonderfully weird, heartbreakingly beautiful, and gorgeously executed triumph. Performed by the magnetic Midge Lema, this 60-minute solo show takes the audience on a joyous, enrapturing space travel ride that blends cosmic imagination with deep human truth. Lema commands the stage with a connection to the audience that feels divinely effortless. She shifts seamlessly between moments of brilliant comedy and raw emotional vulnerability. Her touching monologues are so profoun...

This show is like watching two broken people try to do therapy on each other and, spoiler alert, they aren't certified! Though the emotional competence of these characters may be a bit limited, the skill of the performers is not. You're in good hands with these actors who each deliver thoroughly lived-in performances. Each actor has a distinctive energy and style that balance and blend beautifully. This show is a fully realized piece of theater which is a refreshing change of pace amongst the fri...
