Highly recommended! I enjoy magic shows, but I’ve seen some terrible magic shows. This show is a wonderful show because it points out some of the pitfalls of the typical magic show. I won’t give any spoilers but Benjamin is right on point in recognizing why magic can get a bad rap among audience members. He is willing to be vulnerable and conscious. Tense and full of feeling, an anatomy of a relationship told through a genre I don’t see enough in theater — sci-fi. Gripping acting kept me on the edge of my seat. Written beautifully and naturally. Complex, complete characters I truly cared about from the jump. Staging with the exact right blend of abstractions and physical props/set pieces. This is such a beautiful slice of life play about themes that are deeply existential — it takes very talented writing to pull that off as well as this team has! The chemistry between the actors was some of the best I’ve seen at Fringe this year. I teared up by the end — what a poignant and achingly beautiful love letter to platonic friendships. Wonderful show! So funny, with performances and direction that elevates the script. As time has evolved, our perception of both Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have changed in a way that makes this an incredibly fun, hilarious watch.
