You (or one of your friends) can be the head graphic designer for the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival! All you have to do is enter our design contest.
Click here to navigate directly to the contest page.
Dates of the Contest
You can start submitting your designs for the qualifying round starting Monday, February 23rd. To ensure your design is eligible for the final round, make sure we receive your concept by the end of the day on Thursday, February 26th.
What We Want You to Design
Every year, we produce a printed guide of all the shows produced at our festival. This contest is centered around the GUIDE COVER IMAGE; the seminal representation of the 2015 festival.
Here are the guides from our first five years:
2014 Guide
2013 Guide
2012 Guide
2011 Guide
2010 Guide
Generally, the cover image includes our mascots – “the freaks”. The five main freaks are included on the cover of the 2012 & 2013 Guides. The “look” of these freaks should be adapted to fit the your unique aesthetic so feel free to play into your comfort zone (see the links above for examples of previous adaptations).
The winner of this contest is immediately eligible for additional work finishing off the rest of the guide design. See below for more info.
The Big Prize
The winner of the contest will receive $799 (minus the commission taken by 99Designs) and be eligible for more money to finish off the guide, produce the button and complete other branding needs. Anyone can participate, they just need to create a (free) account on 99Designs.com.
We’d also adapt the images above to be used as print and online ads.
Other Info
Our team has lots of experience working with designers and we have in-house adobe suite experts, so we won’t be constantly going to you for minor updates.
We are ready to answer your questions, so feel free to communicate at will. Just email us at [email protected].
Thanks for your interest and we look forward to your submissions!

It’s officially here: Participant Registration for the sixth annual Hollywood Fringe Festival is now open. You can begin the three steps of registration by creating a project today.
Whether you’re merely curious or you already have your posters printed, we suggest checking out the first Town Hall of the season this Saturday, February 7th from 12-2 PM at Hudson Theatres. This event will focus on the Registration process and all you need to know about getting involved in this year’s festival. We highly recommend sending a representative from your production to all of the Town Halls and Workshops (see the full schedule here). You can reserve a seat or just show up! If you can’t attend in person, check out the recordings on our blog or our YouTube Channel a couple of days following the meetings.

Some might say that there is no room in the film-centric city of Los Angeles for a thriving, vibrant performing arts scene. That there is no close-knit community of theatre-goers in this city. Some might even say the performing arts are dying.
We’ve got the numbers to prove that these things simply aren’t true.
Some facts about the fifth annual Hollywood Fringe Festival:
- We sold 46,000 tickets this year, which is 11,000 more than in 2013. That’s a 30% growth, people.
- Since our inaugural festival in 2010, ticket sales have increased 170%.
- The festival sold an estimated $389,000 in tickets this year (over $130,000 more than in 2013). The central Fringe organization doesn’t touch a dollar of this money— all $389,000 has been returned to Fringe artists and venues.
- 290 productions participated in this year’s event, securing the Hollywood Fringe’s place as one of the largest open-access arts festivals in the world. During June, nearly 1,500 performances were staged at 64 spaces throughout Hollywood.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s festival!
