Like no other show I've seen at the Hollywood Fringe this year. Such emotional depth in a piece which also seeks to educate and share a deeply personal family story about Vivi's family's escape from Vietnam as the war came to a close. Oh, I loved this show! Not only is it thoroughly polished, relevant to so many artists who have struggled, and deeply personal, it combined a slew of Kim’s talents in one show. She’s a dancer, singer, very clever writer, and effortlessly funny. I loved her mission impossible sequences & backstage storytelling- her characters all came to life! Oh, I loved having the opportunity to watch Peyton for an hour! She makes learning funny AND sexy. As Lady Satan, she breaks down all the misconceptions about transgender individuals using clips from the tangerine toddler and more on the right. Brilliant, hilarious, powerful, & perfect. Cara did an excellent job, weaving grotesque, hilarious, & mesmerizing (not necessarily in a good way) dick pics throughout a deeply personal story. I think a lot of women watched the show nodding in agreement while a lot of men are left horrified by what they’d watched. This show was so fun! It addresses serious issues of racism & sexism in the vertical industry and how that’s seeping into Hollywood and setting our culture back in so many ways, but it tackles these subjects with humor and camp, which makes the messages hit that much harder.
