Going into the play, I hadn't known what it was going to be about. I have read Macbeth and know a lot about that play, so I thought it would have something to do with that, but I didn't read a synopsis or anything before hand. Even when I was handed the program, I barely glanced at it so as to not give anything away. I think this way of going into the play blind definitely made me appreciate it more. Inventive, engaging, thought provoking without being over the top. Cylie is a talented and expressive performer, the show she wrote is creative and her performance was magnetic. It's melancholy, hopeful and brave. The character of Jackie stirred a lot of emotions in me. I genuinely cared about her, worried about her, was pulled in by her. This show was not formulaic at all. Kudos for White Lilies! The play is a gripping two-hander (well, maaaaybe a three-hander ; ) ) centering around the fragile bonds of family.
