As a woman and an actress, I needed this show. Megan Rippey stuns as she easily switches from Megan, to Reagan, to Exotic Divine Portal. A beautiful performance by Evelyn Rumsby, who shares a very brave story about managing GAD/OCD while trying to survive collage, dating and, well, life. What makes this show so disarming is Peyton's generosity. A blend of history and mental health, with surprising and insightful twists. Jessica Martin takes us through the history of Joan of Arc while also detailing his life, finding parallels. Before the show, in line, a father and son were reading who the characters are. “Who is Martin Goodman?” I had to butt in and say “That’s the publisher, before comics he was publishing pulp magazines. Also he’s Stan Lee’s uncle-in-law” later on, the play corrected my trivia. “Who is Steve Ditko?” I said “Creator of Spider-Man”. I came in VERY knowledgeable about these people and this story. Bubba Proctor's F3 centers around an experience universal to so many LGBTQ people experience, particularly queer men, yet an experience so absent in media- the first HIV scare. As a queer man watching this play, I was brought back to my first visit to an STD clinic, when I was convinced I had contracted HIV. So many others will relate to this play, and after watching it I've realized how much the first visit to an STD clinic is such a coming of age moment for gay men, on par with coming out.
