I sat there with a constant mouth awide expression, as I watched Harper Rose Drummond bounce across the stage the whole show, non-stop, full showmanship at display. Her rapport with the audience, as well her incredibly game co-writer/accompinist Greg Hoffman, brought a vaudevillian quality to the whole atmosphere. Incredibly moving. Growing up in a small, rural, conservative town - conservations from this show felt like I was right back in that town. Ally gives a dynamic performance with a character that feel as inviting as a radio host should be: you feel right at home with the character and like and trust her instantly, even if you don't agree with her opinions or values. I don't know what is askew in Sophie's brain, but after experiencing CVNT in all its super vulva enormity, I hope she never fixes it. I got my ticket based on the title alone, and it was so much more than I could have ever expected. Xander's performance in this play is a must see. They brought the room to tears as the play brings to the surface any suppressed emotions you might have about words left unsaid. It reminded me that we don't know how much time left we have, and to act accordingly.
