Highly-recommended! I loved Heather's first solo show, UNEMPLOYED. FINALLY. and I was excited to fall in love with this show too. And I did. Heather is a wonderful, endearing performer and she bravely puts herself in the middle of a complicated and fairly personal examination of what it means to be "fertile" -- or not -- in our society. This is a funny, sincere, heart-warming exploration of one woman's attempts to navigate trying to get pregnant, friends who are/have been/don't want to be and all of the opinions, advice and medical treatments she encounters in-between. This is a timely topic as so many women are facing similar struggles and trying to figure out whether they REALLY want to have children, or they've just been indoctrinated int... full review

Heather's spirit is infectious. She lights up the stage the moment she walks on. Through her polished, tight, 1-hour show, she beautifully opens the book on a topic that so many women take for granted. So honored to have been in the room to watch her shine. (And someone...PLEASE get this woman a piece of chocolate! LOL. See the show, and you'll love this scene as much as I did). :)... full review

Heather is an incredible solo performer. You know instantly that you are in good hands with her. Her character’s specificity and ability to choose just the right amount of just the right words to tell the story is truly a gift. The show is sneakily educational, hiding facts in clever dialogue, but also clearly painting the full picture of society’s judgment and opinions. It was witty and relatable - and masterfully tackles a topic that is inexplicably taboo with true grace. ... full review

WOW WOW WOW! Strong, distinctive characters from start to finish. Heather's such a powerhouse actor, so each moment was believable and captivating. Phenomenal storytelling with an incredibly relatable and important message, which even touched based on what your partner goes through when dealing with fertility.... full review

A simple stage with a bed, a table, and a podium. That's all Heather Dowling has at her disposal besides her skills as a performer and a storyteller for her hour-long one-person show, Fertile. She embodies more than a dozen characters throughout the performance and transitions between them with great ease and control, keeping each voice distinct and relatable. From the eager and overwhelmed heroine Jenny to her wise and soft-spoken neighbor Gloria, the over-the-top and borderline delirious acupuncturist, the blunt but sensitive husband Matt and much more, Fertile is not only a testament to Dowling's acting chops, it also reflects her deep understanding of the human condition as a writer, making the audience laugh or ponder by how each charac... full review

If you didn't see Heather's first solo effort, "Unemployed Finally,"and wondered what made it so popular that it was nominated for Best of Fringe in 2015, this new production, "Fertile" will give you a good idea why. This is an even funnier, more poignant, more polished production. Her writing is always great, insightful and hilarious but it's her work as an actor that really shines here. With no direct narration to the audience, Heather spins a beautiful tale with just the menagerie of well defined characters she creates. She so damn versatile that my favorite character was Jenny's befuddled but loving husband. Very solid, moving work.... full review

What a beautiful show! From the first moment Heather embodies her first two of several characters, you are transported into this amazing world. Her performance is nothing short of incredible. This piece is so simple in its story, yet so relevant, poignant, and lovely that you find yourself laughing and crying. Heather does such a wonderful job at covering so much ground in this piece that she allows the audience to see all sides of the story and understand why it is so difficult for women, and men, to handle the barrage of opinions when it comes to having children. Truly a MUST SEE of the Fringe this year! Well done!! ... full review

A beautiful, funny, vulnerable and real look into something that isn't openly talked about enough. Heather is not only a powerhouse of a performer but also a highly skilled storyteller. Her performance is nuanced and specific and full of heart. Fertile is a show that everyone should see. For some it the subject matter will ring true, for others it will be educating (in the funniest of ways) and for some it will provide peace and freedom, knowing that their own struggles and thoughts got to be heard.... full review

I loved how greatly Heather was able to play all the characters herself while still having us feel like if we were watching several actors! I have personally not been at a point of my life yet when these issues would start coming to my mind, what made me want to see this play was really the great visual marketing that was done on it, the flyers that looked like if they were for a fertility clinic, Heather's hospital costume at Fringe events, i thought it was really funny. So i came to the show just out of curiosity and I have to say it was very interesting not only to see what so many people are going through regarding matters of fertility and procreation, but was also amazed but how strongly the audience seemed to relate to that. Heather is masterful. She guides the audience through one of the most challenging times of a woman’s life with grace and humor. Her character transformations seem effortless and each individual is some one you can either identify as someone you love, or at least someone you have encountered. ... full review
