Great performance by a charismatic and talented woman in a terrific show that does not end the way you think it's going to. Highly recommended! ... full review

Fertility and sex and related struggles, questions, and fears are all a real part of our lives that most of us don’t talk about, and these are depicted authentically through Heather’s semi-autobiographical performance in FERTILE. The story stays true to Jenny's path without getting sappy or depressing. There is no prescribed single "right answer" for people with (or without) fertility challenges, but rather a thoughtful glimpse into one woman's journey – with great comedic timing and moments of reflection. ... full review

A delightful, funny, and accomplished show - well written and skilfully performed by its charming author, Heather Dowling. It tells a wonderfully relate-able story, and even for those who have not experienced fertility issues, it is something very worth hearing - since you know someone going through it who is not comfortable speaking about it - much like the character in the show.... full review

A simple stage with a bed, a table, and a podium. That's all Heather Dowling has at her disposal besides her skills as a performer and a storyteller for her hour-long one-person show, Fertile. She embodies more than a dozen characters throughout the performance and transitions between them with great ease and control, keeping each voice distinct and relatable. From the eager and overwhelmed heroine Jenny to her wise and soft-spoken neighbor Gloria, the over-the-top and borderline delirious acupuncturist, the blunt but sensitive husband Matt and much more, Fertile is not only a testament to Dowling's acting chops, it also reflects her deep understanding of the human condition as a writer, making the audience laugh or ponder by how each charac... full review

Heather's spirit is infectious. She lights up the stage the moment she walks on. Through her polished, tight, 1-hour show, she beautifully opens the book on a topic that so many women take for granted. So honored to have been in the room to watch her shine. (And someone...PLEASE get this woman a piece of chocolate! LOL. See the show, and you'll love this scene as much as I did). :)... full review

Heather is an incredible solo performer. You know instantly that you are in good hands with her. Her character’s specificity and ability to choose just the right amount of just the right words to tell the story is truly a gift. The show is sneakily educational, hiding facts in clever dialogue, but also clearly painting the full picture of society’s judgment and opinions. It was witty and relatable - and masterfully tackles a topic that is inexplicably taboo with true grace. ... full review

Highly-recommended! I loved Heather's first solo show, UNEMPLOYED. FINALLY. and I was excited to fall in love with this show too. And I did. Heather is a wonderful, endearing performer and she bravely puts herself in the middle of a complicated and fairly personal examination of what it means to be "fertile" -- or not -- in our society. This is a funny, sincere, heart-warming exploration of one woman's attempts to navigate trying to get pregnant, friends who are/have been/don't want to be and all of the opinions, advice and medical treatments she encounters in-between. This is a timely topic as so many women are facing similar struggles and trying to figure out whether they REALLY want to have children, or they've just been indoctrinated int... full review

So many of us have always taken having children for granted. Thanks to the comic genius of Heather Dowling, we will never think of that topic in the same way we have before. Dowling delivered a gem in her last Fringe show back in 2015, the only year we did not attend, so we were determined to catch her latest show, and we’re so glad we did. ... full review

A beautifully poignant show focusing on what it means to be a mother, what it means to be a woman. The show is witty, thought provoking and tragic. Beautifully written and elegantly performed. ... full review

Heather takes an often taboo subject that no one ever talks about and places it front and center. She is at ease on the stage and has no problem switching between characters. Heather has this maternal nature that makes you wanna run on stage and give her a big ol’ hug! Also, I’ve never seen a solo show without a narrator that appears throughout the show and so I thought Heather’s decision to not have one was really cool, unique, and makes her show stand out. I had such a great time watching this show and not one time did I want it to be over. Watch this show for a masterclass of how to make a solo show.... full review
