Her Rage

I was honestly moved by the amount of raw emotion and wonderful acting that took place. There weren't many side characters or props and most of the scenes were exchanges (which made it feel you were in the room with them). Sadie did a fantastic job of portraying a very complex character. You didn't know whether or not she was innocent, calculated or if she was simply unhinged. The policeman was also very good at creating tension and dialogue between the two, slowly unearthing her. Also the interv... full review

A very intriguing story with a wonderful reflection and call to action at the end. If I understand correctly, the performer is a journalist more than an actor. Great job using storytelling devices and keeping energy up throughout. ... full review

I went to see the play on Saturday, June 14th. It was a story set in a police station, following a wife who had suffered domestic violence and ultimately killed her husband. The lead role, played by Sadie, powerfully conveyed just how terribly she had been treated by her husband through her facial expressions and intense performance. Although almost all of the dialogue was in Chinese, English translations were displayed on a screen simultaneously, which made it easy to understand and follow.... full review

The Dog Log

Richard Lucas’s “The Dog Log” is a masterclass in how to do a solo show. Since it was based on a published book, I expected the show to be good. Yet I somehow didn’t expect to feel devastated by the end about the fragility of the human condition. Richard infuses his storytelling with humor and pathos, engaging the audience from the first “arf, arf” until the final curtain. Along the way we’re taken on a journey that could be described as “everyday” on the surface—a civic complaint—yet in Richard’... full review
