Awards For Hollywood Fringe 2019
2019 UNLEASHED AWARD
The Unleashed Award is given to the ensemble production who unleashes their production with a strong focus on telling the story. We are looking for shows that combine strong acting with creative production elements to drive their story. Whether it’s a new take on an old work or a brand new play debuting at Fringe, we’re excited to see how you combine the pieces to tell the story.
2CENTS THEATRE DISTINCTIVE VOICES AWARD

BEST OF BROADWATER AWARD 2019
For those productions who chose The Broadwater as their venue, now The Broadwater gets to choose YOU! The Second Annual Best of Broadwater Award will celebrate a select few Hollywood Fringe productions that have performed at The Broadwater and really made us proud due to their high level of artistry and excellence. Who wouldn’t want to have their show extended on one of the most desired theatres on Theatre Row rent free?? Furthermore the winners will NOT have to pay The Broadwater any portion of their ticket sales for said-extension. Yes, it’s true.
This award allows The Broadwater to give back to those who are breaking ground, moving hearts, and bringing down the house in our world of vital intimate theatre. Here’s how it works. All winners will receive a statuette and certificate at the Hollywood Fringe Festival Closing Night Ceremony and be immediately offered the opportunity to extend their show into the Best of The Broadwater Weekend set to immediately follow the 2019 Fringe. Best of Broadwater Opening Reception will be a red carpet event, putting a special spotlight on those select winners. The Broadwater will invite LA theatre luminaries, venue bookers and press to join the party as the weekend-long celebration features The Broadwater’s Best in all of its four various stages.
FIGHT THE POWER AWARD
Performance, writing, direction must all combine to create a powerful piece that moves the needle in social justice, inclusiveness, normalization of reality, and forward-thinking art.

NO ROOM IN THE GREEN ROOM AWARD
MB Stage Productions, LLC has a nasty habit of producing shows with large casts (Smallest: 8 performers, Largest: 21 performers). With our history, we know that juggling rehearsal conflicts, production needs, and the drama that comes with producing live theatre is no easy task! This award goes to those who like to challenge themselves to have a full audience and an even fuller stage.
O FACE AWARD FOR ORGASMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN THEATRE: “MOST ORGASMIC PERFORMANCE”
“Great spiritual teachers throughout the ages have stated that orgasm is the closest some people come to a spiritual experience because of the momentary loss of self. Why is this true? Because with spiritual sex, you move beyond orgasm into a connection with yourself, your partner, and the divine — recognizing them all as one.”
-Alexandra Katehakis – Clinical Director of the Center for Healthy Sex in Los Angeles
Our Goal: We at Orgasmico Theatre Company would like to single out one production to receive our O Face Award for forging a connection between artist, audience and the divine, bringing all three together in an explosive* theatrical experience that transcends convention and can only be regarded as “Orgasmic.”
The “Most Orgasmic Performer” is a mad priest/priestess who seduces the audience, unites them intimately with the character they are playing, and ultimately brings the whole theatrical ritual to an unforgettable climax*.

THE DIVERSE DIVA AWARD
The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival celebrates 26 years of artistic diversity through the production of traditional and innovative performances and educational outreach. We have served well over 3000 youth in the LA public schools, produced a cable television show, and our educational outreach programming has touched hearts and spirits of seniors, at-risk youth, ex-offender women and low-income audience members. The Festival has attracted a host of government funders, official sponsors, donors and has established a membership base that many alumni have joined. LAWTF has now become the oldest solo festival for women in Los Angeles and has honored deserving women in theatre and has brought together well over 500 solo artists from around the world to share their many heartwarming and personal stories. It is with this history and mission that we, the LAWTF Board of Directors, will select one female identified artist who exemplifies diversity, empowerment, and remarkable creativity in her original work. TPP'S TROPE BUSTER! (SPONSORED BY THEY PLAYED PRODUCTIONS)
Some shows break the mold. They DISRUPT the medium. They take the expected roles or stories or themes or TROPES of theatre and spin them off the axis into unknown territory.
They DISCONNECT the audience from what they EXPECT and give them something:
DIFFERENT
WRONG
RIGHT
OUTRAGEOUS
KIND
WEIRD
DISJOINTED
BIZARRE
UNIQUE
and above all:
OUTSIDE THE LINES
Is your performance one of these? Then you might be this year’s winning TROPE BUSTER!
