Shelley Cooper is one of the best performers I've seen in my career as an actor. She's grounded, deep and incredibly talented. But when she sings, oh man, when she sings, her eyes become a screen through which you can observe and enjoy her beautiful and sophisticated soul. Does it make sense? In my head it does.. I promise, I wanna fall in love is a gem. Next step is an album, maybe a broadway musical, maybe both! I'm pretty sure that what Shelley said as Maria Callas in "La Divina" : " When I sing I feel loved", it's exactly what she feels in her reality. Beautiful show. Shelly has an incredible voice, nuanced and operatic. It is such a joy to hear her singing in such an intimate space. The show is a mix of songs and storytelling. I really enjoyed hearing her tell her stories of love and heartbreak and her inspiring message of overall hope. The performer pours her heart out on the stage. It was a delight all around. "Endearing elegance." As I sat in the theater listening to Shelley Cooper share her stories of love and heartbreak through song, using humor and vulnerability, those are the words that came to mind-- endearing elegance. Taking us through her journey of searching for love from a young age, and at times not wanting love (or perhaps trying to convince herself so) it was delightful to relate to some of her experiences, as well as chuckle, and sympathize, at some of her unique tales. At the core of everything though, is the heart of her story. And from her heart is where you can tell Shelley's gorgeous storytelling voice is coming straight from. ... full review
