Being The Perfect Woman is a sharp, timely solo show that uses satire and dark humor to explore gender expectations, identity, and the social climate in post-2024 America. The interactive livestream concept feels fresh and gives the piece a contemporary edge. I like how easy space waves is to control the arrow. It only takes a tap or hold to change the direction, but mastering the timing is the real challenge....

Seen this at 30 Minutes or Less Fest and I think it's too important to miss! Diaz shows us what society wants from the "Perfect Woman" and how harmful that can be to everyone. Sharp, concise, and full of heart; awakens us to our own humanity in a 30 minute show. Diaz does a good job connecting with the audience, rather than lecturing us, finding ways to include each of us in sme way....

Ashley Diaz returns to their roots in "Being the Perfect Woman," a solo journey that is both passionate and very personal. Diaz explores not only their world, but the world of many modern women and the very real fear of standing in your light and declaring your truth in today's America.
Paired with a live video feed throughout, Diaz is available, and uncompromisingly present throughout this solo journey....

Courageous Authentic Heartbreakin
I hold the intent and the performer in high regard. At the risk of sounding 'cliche', this was a courageous performance. This show has the potential to become something significant, but it is in the beginning stages of development. In the 30-minute window, the character/performer moves quickly through the five stages of grief - beginning in complete denial and ending in full acceptance - but there is no context of how they got through and processed each stage. ...

This is a delightful and honest exploration of a person bravely claiming the Being they are despite the expectations of the Being they "should" be. Diaz rides that roller coaster of emotions with confidence and command of presence. So much packed into 1/2-hour! "This one goes to 11."...

What does it mean to be a "perfect " woman? Ashley Diaz takes us on their journey of discovering one's self in the face of a harsh, unfair reality that can refuse to accept that. Bold, funny, and very poignant, "Being The Perfect Woman" is a very special short piece this Fringe not to be missed....

The show started out as a silly, intimate, and interactive, satire, making fun of the performance of femininity, but then seamlessly pivoted to more a more serious exploration of gender and self-acceptance. I was in awe of the bravery and vulnerability in both the performance and writing. I adore a show with a fresh take on pertinent social issues and this play is just that....
