What a ride. Aaron has created a fiercely loveable show here rife with soul, surprises and Shel-Silverstein-at-his-sexiest poetry. Excellent pacing, excellent idea and overall excellent production. ... full review

I loved it so much I want to see it again (and again, and again)!! Alas, I cannot, and that makes me sad. Aaron Lyons kicks ass! The scoring behind the story was intense and groovy and fitting for every moment of the show. I just loved it!!!... full review

What an awesome ride! I had such a good time watching this play. I felt like I was in a speakeasy in New Orleans. Aaron gave it all to the audience. He took us on a roller coaster ride thru heaven and hell with endless energy and sophisticated nuances. I really had fun!... full review

Aaron Lyons is a theatrical POWERHOUSE. He turns in not just one stunning performance, but five. His characterizations are distinct, full-bodied and nuanced, and his complete command of the room stops time in its tracks. The material is thought-provoking and morally challenging, but the best of it is that it is so much FUN. THE DEVIL AND BILLY MARKHAM is the best party you'll get to all summer long. ... full review

There's nothing to hate about The Devil and Billy Markham. The text is virtually flawless and Aaron Lyons shines yet again as the Narrator/ Billy Markham/ The Devil/ etc. Every last second of this hour is purely enjoyable, and my only complaint is that at times, it's a bit hard to see - but I can't imagine this show anywhere but 3 Clubs - it's the perfect location for something like this. The Band. Ruth Fox (as the dancer/ Billy's Wife/ The Woman). Mr. Lyons. Zenith ensemble has done something right - EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW OOZES TALENT. I hope I have the chance to see it again. ... full review

Watching this show, I kept thinking of the phrase "actor meets role." As in, Aaron Lyons was BORN to do this show. With masterful ease, he inhabits the roles of the Narrator, the Devil, Billy, God, and a host of colorful characters, bringing Shel Silverstein's brilliant words into the audience's lap, literally. Make no mistake, Aaron owns the show, but every element in the production contributes to making it a truly special experience - the band (Carlos Felipe Flores, Kevin Katich, and Hank Doughan), the dancing girl (Ruth Fox), and the space itself - the cozy red-curtain cabaret at The Three of Clubs. ... full review

I'd heard great buzz during the Fringe and was happy 'Devil' got extended, but I had no idea what a tour de force of a performance I was in for. From the totally funky and appropriate music by Hank Doughan, Kevin Katich, and Carlos Flores (who made his guitar sound like a dozen different studio sessions) to Ruth Fox's fun dancing and support, and finally to Aaron Lyons' fantastical acting as da debbil, a sleazo agent, and Billy Markham, himself--this was some of the best theater I've seen. 3 of Clubs beer-stained, naugahyde back room was the perfect setting for this brilliant, filthy, epic tale penned by Shel Silverstein with help from David Mamet. Lyons was so good, so fun to watch, so totally enmeshed as a performer in this mythic tale, ... full review

I was wowed by Aaron's rendition of this funny and filthy epic poem. His character work is excellent and his sense of play is a joy to watch. Backed by a rocking band and a hard-working dancer, this piece is a perfect fit for the seedy 3 Clubs. Must see. fringeblog.webs.com... full review
