Odilia is a social worker on a mission to save a man’s life who is fleeing deportation in the borderlands. She is met by a mysterious figure and gets thrust into the Middle Ground, a space inhabited by Esqueletos. Before the sun rises, Odilia must uncover the secret to life to save her own.

Maggie, a junk-food-binging shoplifter, Paul, a sincere recovering overeater, Flacco, a wannabe Puerto Rican criminal and Boochie, a hooker, find themselves facing execution by mobster Sal and his youthful boss, Lou “Little Tuna” Pescatore after their scheme to rob a local nightclub goes awry.
