Shakespeare plays have a tremendous weight to them that can drag casts down or lift them up with equal possibility. This production takes one of the most commonly seen and performed Shakespeare comedies and brings it renewed humor and energy and makes it a good family-friendly Fringe comedy that anyone can enjoy.

Merely Players Shakespeare Co. delivers A Midsummer Night’s Dream with all of the prerequisites - ridiculous Mechanicals, warring Theseus and Hippolyta, rash lovers and a mischievous Puck - all in a quick 90 minutes. Even better, they throw in their own personality by enhancing the magical aspects of Oberon and the fairies. It’s a fun addition and helps to explain how Oberon is ever able to get close enough to a sleeping Hippolyta to anoint her eyes.
