ELLA TURENNE AWARD
The Ella Turenne Award, presented by the independent Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board, honors treasured Hollywood Fringe community member, Ella Turenne, and her belief that Fringe is for everyone. With this dedication, we hope to uplift and encourage BIPOC creators to share their experiences through theater at the Fringe.
The Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board is made up of past participants, staff and board members who take a look at current equity standards to help set goals for the Hollywood Fringe organization & community (though this award selection is curated by the participants of this Access Advisory Board, not Hollywood Fringe staff and board members).
In 2020, Ella became a founding member of the Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board. Ella dedicated countless hours working alongside HFF while advocating for marginalized artists’ exposure. Ella’s impact on the Hollywood Fringe can be seen throughout the festival. Her legacy continues to touch our community as well as those she inspired.
Just like Ella herself, the Ella Turenne Award highlights artists who demonstrate leadership and inclusion at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. These contributions add to the experience and culture of BIPOC individuals and communities.
FRINGE ITALIA OFF EXCHANGE AWARD
We are thrilled to continue a partnership with the Fringe Italia Off. In this exciting exchange we continue to celebrates the art that connects us globally. Fringe Italia Off is looking for a Hollywood Fringe show where language does not create a barrier.

More About Fringe Italia Off
Fringe Italia Off is a vibrant cultural project that blends the performing arts with place-making and off-season cultural tourism, and creates a powerful bridge between Milan and Catania, two cities brought together by their respective Fringe Festivals—Fringe Milano Off (since 2016) and Fringe Catania Off (since 2022).
At the heart of Fringe Italia Off is the desire to foster a network that unites independent artists, performance spaces, theaters, and audiences. The project not only showcases innovative and diverse performances, but also engages directly with local communities, having a tangible social impact across age groups and neighborhoods. From students to seniors, Fringe Italia Off makes culture accessible, relevant, and engaging.
Fringe Italia Off’s mission goes beyond the stage. It strives to democratize access to live performance, bring cultural offerings to peripheral and disadvantaged areas, and develop new, diverse audiences. Special attention is given to youth, vulnerable populations, and the elderly. The project supports dialogue between artists and professionals, boosts cultural tourism, and highlights both the tangible and intangible heritage of the regions it touches. It also promotes a model of cultural vitality that strengthens neighborhoods through art, empathy, and shared experiences.
INTERNATIONAL FRINGE ENCORE SERIES
Now in its 20th season SoHo Playhouse will host prize winning shows as part of their 2026 International Fringe Encore Series at their Off Broadway theatre in New York City.
PLAYWRIGHT'S PROMISE AWARD
The Inkwell Theater, now in it’s 22nd Season, is dedicated to the development and production of new works. The Playwright’s Promise Award recognizes the writer of a Fringe production. It is based on the play itself, not necessarily the production.
SHORT+SWEET HOLLYWOOD'S SPIRIT OF THE FEST AWARD
Short+Sweet Hollywood is an international 10-minute play competition based theatre festival where the top actors, writers and directors are awarded with trophies and sponsored prizes each season. We at Short+Sweet Hollywood 2025 will be awarding a Spirit of the Fest Award at Hollywood Fringe 2025.

THEATRE THEATER PLAYWRIGHT AWARD
Theatre Theater is a (now) bicoastal podcast hosted by three members of the LA Theatre scene and beyond. After nearly 5 seasons of content, we have covered several playwrights, both current and historical and extensively discussed the intersection of film and theatre. As connoisseurs of script analysis and development we would like to present this award to a writer who we believe has the potential to be listed among the great playwrights. Therefore this award is to be presented to the playwright that we believe has the most potential for forward movement in the industry.
THE DAREDEVIL AWARD
Electric Lodge is Venice Beach’s home for non-traditional artistic expression, providing opportunities for artists and community members to connect, create, and inspire. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Joel Shapiro, Electric Lodge is one of the first solar-powered performing arts centers in California with a 99-seat blackbox theater, dance studio, and classroom space. In 2024, Kent Jenkins (a Hollywood Fringe veteran since 2015) joined the team as Associate Artistic Director and is leading the charge for their inaugural Daredevil Arts Festival this July 11-13.
The Daredevil Award is presented to a show that exhibits what Electric Lodge champions – original work that is unique, multi-disciplinary, and boundary-pushing.
Accepting submissions through the end of previews on Tuesday, June 10.

The Fierce Artist Award honors a female-identifying solo artist whose work ignites the stage with unflinching truth, evocative artistry, and commanding presence. This award recognizes fearless dedication to stagecraft- a performance that disrupts the status quo, deepens vital dialogue, and sparks both personal and cultural transformation. Their work is bold, evocative, and unforgettable- a living example of what happens when art becomes activism. The Fierce Artist Award celebrates those who dare, who disrupt, and who ignite.
THE LOUD KARMA EMERGING WOMEN AND NONBINARY PLAYWRIGHT AWARD

Loud Karma Productions was created because women and nonbinary playwrights deserve to have their voices heard. We are dedicated to producing works of emerging and marginalized artists who find themselves overlooked for reasons that have nothing to do with their talent. Our mission is to support emerging women artists and artists of any gender who are marginalized because of age, disability, gender, or ethnicity. We support the LGBTQ+ community, POC, and are an ally business.
It is no secret that female and nonbinary playwrights are underrepresented in theatres across the US and internationally. In a study released by the AAPAC, in a recent Broadway season, 86 percent of the produced playwrights were white males. Women and nonbinary voices are woefully underrepresented in spite of the amazing, groundbreaking, and vital work they are creating.
It is the goal of Loud Karma Productions to celebrate and recognize emerging female and nonbinary playwrights and provide opportunities for these deserving women and nonbinary writers to have opportunities—both in experience and support—for their reach to continue to grow and their careers as playwrights expand—and take their work to the next level.
THE MOVIE BOOK CLUB AWARD
The Movie Book Club Award adapts your play into a movie or TV show that The Movie Book Club will publish and feature in our monthly book publication so that you can be paid a percentage of each sale and then be pitched to our connects at A24 and other studios and networks.
THE NO ROOM IN THE GREEN ROOM AWARD
MB Stage Productions, LLC has a nasty habit of producing shows with large casts or producing multiple fringe shows at once. With our history, we know that juggling rehearsal conflicts, production needs, and the drama that comes with producing live theatre is no easy task! This award goes to those who like to challenge themselves to have a full audience and an even fuller stage.

THE PLANNERS' PICK
The Planners’ Pick will be given to the show with the most artistic merit and commercial viability. Basically to a great show that has good houses. We want to make sure if you extend you will succeed!
THE SACRED FOOLS AWARD FOR BOLD THEATRICALITY
This award is presented to a World Premiere work that embraces bold, inventive theatricality with an irreverent dash of “FOOLishness”.
THE SCREAMIEST
Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, will award the Hollywood Fringe show that best represents the spooky spirit of Halloween with THE SCREAMIEST, a physical trophy and boasting rights reserved for the most macabre of creators.
Midsummer Scream returns for its eighth year this August 15-17 to the Long Beach Convention Center.
As a showcase for spooky events and attractions, we love to see emerging talents creating spooky projects each year at Hollywood Fringe.
Past winners include “Final Girl” (2024), “Dr. Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror” (2018), and “A(Partment 8)” (2017).

The StageCrafts has partnered with other venues throughout LA County such as Venice, Long Beach, Pasadena, Santa Clarity and Sierra Madre to bring shows to the far reaches of the county and build new audiences!

The Joy Who Lived is a festival dedicated to uplifting artists and their stories, especially those in the trans and gender non-conforming community. The Transcendent Craft Award goes to a theater artist (writer, director, or performer) who demonstrates excellence in representing multi-dimensional, gender-diverse experiences.
We are looking for authentic stories (historical, personal, fantastical, abstract—anything that captures something true). We are especially excited about work that is de-colonial, trans-centric, and challenging dominant patriarchal norms and narratives.
