adventures in caregiving

The show is very relatable to those of us who have been a caregiver to a loved one. David's journey is more extreme with having to care for more than one family member within a short span of time. David told his story in a very touching as well as an interesting way inserting humorous moments.... full review

This is my second time seeing this show and it's just as moving and heartfelt as the first time a saw it. David is an enigmatic performer, thoroughly entertaining and often hilarious. But his storytelling is also poignant, giving us an inside look at the brave but heavy burden of his role as a caregiver for his ailing family members. It's truly an "adventure" -- but more importantly, an gut-wrenching journey of how he ultimately comes to terms with loss, grief and a finding his own path forward.... full review

This is my favorite solo show I saw at this year’s festival. As a caregiver myself, I have never felt more seen. Actors/Writers in these type of shows, when dealing with this subject matter, often come off as a victim or a martyr…David did not AT ALL in the best possible way. He showed every nuance of this complicated role of caregiver. ... full review

David's journey is so heart wrenching, beautiful, and very touching. He's a great storyteller with a huge heart. It feels odd to say, but I enjoyed watching him share such difficult moments from his life with so much grace and wit. He's funny, honest, open, vulnerable, and a blessing! Support David any time he does this show. You will enjoy it and you will be moved. Bravo for not just wonderful and creative storytelling, but also for prevailing and turning every lemon that life has handed you into a BIG OL' Batch of Lemonade. I raise my glass to you. Cheers... Job well done!... full review

David’s performance is masterful as he weaves between pathos and humor. David conveys the loss, pain, and grief that we will all get to feel as our parents become ill and leave us. It was real, relatable, and done without an ounce of self pity. Go see this show before it’s gone.... full review

This show grabbed my heart from the start and was willingly sent on a whirl of emotions throughout the performance. David is easy on stage, both funny and sincere without any seeming effort and he has a beautiful story he shares here. The tale he tells is just as the title suggests, which I appreciate, and he shares the details of caregiving and illness in a way that is entertaining and very honest. He tells a full story with a beginning, middle and end which offers the audience a real emotional and perhaps (in my case) a cathartic experience. This is the gold standard of theatre, in my opinion, and I am so thankful to David for sharing his story with us and offering us the opportunity to have this emotional journey filled with wisdom, h... full review
