Jim Hanna is one of my favorite creators at Fringe, and The Mayor's Debate is maybe his best effort. And that's a very high bar. His script is witty, smart and, at moments, shocking. He's assembled a great ensemble who play their parts to perfection. The debate is ultimately secondary to the existential truths they explore. The characters bounce from political discussions to person attacks to topics that should not be talked about in civil conversation. I don't want to give anything away. Political satire at it's best. Jim Hanna's latest play holds no punches as it rips through political ideologies across the spectrum. With a talented ensemble, Lucie, Emily, Jim, and Katie sliced up Hanna's dialogue and served it for brunch with perfect comedic timing and sincere performances.... full review

My favorite ensemble shows are ones where the cast meshes easily and obviously gets along well with each other. Mayor’s Debate was exactly this. The actors were playful, imaginative, and had *fun* on the stage. Believe it or not, sometimes you can tell actors aren’t having fun. This wasn’t the case for Mayor’s Debate.... full review

Dark, funny, and only a slightly embellished version of our current political climate, Mayor's Debate takes the voices we are too familiar with today and brings them to their insane logical conclusions, giving us a release of catharsis while asking the question "why can't we all just be nice to each other?"... full review

What an interesting look at not only the polarization of politics, but the unity that truly comes in times of crisis. What a beautiful portrayal of four honest and imperfect people doing what they feel is their very best for their small overtaken community. It was truly great.... full review

A unique show and very, very funny. The back and forth between the candidates was terrific. Each one was so vividly fleshed out that it was easy to forget that they were just characters in a Fringe show and not really running for office.... full review
