"blackboxing" is not just a one-person show; it's an eclectic theatrical experience that defies conventional boundaries. Winner of multiple prestigious awards including Best Cabaret/Variety, the Standout Song Award, TPP’s Trope Buster, and more, this production is a testament to the creative genius of Matt Ritchey and his team. It's no wonder "blackboxing" has been showered with accolades and nominations, including a Fringe First and Outdoor Voices’ “Conversation Creation.”
The play follows Travis, who believes he is ready for his one-man show. The truth, however, is far more complicated and delightfully chaotic. Ritchey has crafted a metatheatrical masterpiece that is self-aware, humorous, and surprisingly touching. "blackboxing" transce...

Blackboxing is a painfully hilarious jab at pretty much most actors doing shows. Using incredible wit, and honesty, this show is a fun one for anyone involved in the industry. There were blurred lines for what was the show Travis was putting on and the show we were watching. ...

Perfectly captures the essence and neuroses of a solo performer with humor and heart; without judgement and apology. Any theatre person's worst disaster marvelously unfolded onstage...

Fun show. It's inside-jokey for theatre people, and especially Fringers, but still clever and funny enough to be accessible to others. ...

A hilarious sendup of an all too common occurrence, the solo show as a showcase or validation. Matt Ritchey takes that and literally runs all over the theater with it, turning it into a silly, sweet existential cry for help. With the aid of the immensely able Jim Niedzialowski, they show the heart at the center of this crazy community. Just don't eat the Turkey. ...
