This play is a modern masterpiece, and this production of it is a sheer delight. The acting is magnificent and the play touches on so many facets of modern life: friendship, loyalty, family, human frailty, and above all, love. How do we love one another despite our weaknesses? What's the nature of forgiveness? What's the truth and what's bullshit, and how do you tell the difference, in other people and in yourself? You owe it to yourself to see this performance. Don't miss it! It will make you laugh; it will break your heart a little -- it's the best of what theater can be. A century and more after Gorky's THE LOWER DEPTHS here's its American cousin, an exhausting wallow in the pain of wasted lives, expertly engineered and even leavened with laughs. The "F" word flows as "trippingly on the tongue" as Elizabethan English did for Shakespeare's audience, so if the title makes you uncomfortable this ISN'T the play for you! But is there a better ensemble cast (3m/2f) in this entire Fringe season? (With 375 options, who can tell?) As I'm writing this there are no performances left, which is sad for whoever is reading this who didn't catch it. Smart directing, wonderful actors, and a killer script. As much as the Fringe is a great place for unpublished new stuff, S.A.G. is one of my favorite playwrights and these artists were so smart to lean on his great writing. Funny and frustrating, the performances took a great script and broke your heart with it. ... full review

YEAH! Gritty, full on, blood-sweat-and-tears-in-yo'-face-theatre!! Kickass work from the cast of MoFo W/The Hat. They work it, giving you a solid theatrical experience. This piece has depth, gravitas, grabs you by the cohones and takes you through a heart-wrenching theatrical rollercoaster of emotions. It has solid direction and a uniformly strong cast who play the junkies, abusers, abused and highly dysfunctional group of characters who are doing their best in life. The characters learn a little, grow a little, bounce around in their pain & try to better themselves. MoFo is a carefully constructed production that deserves to get an extended life.
