Michael Shaw Fisher is a thug. He'll knock you down and take your money. His portrayal of William Shakespeare (if you're not sure who that is you can read about him here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Shakespeare) is fantastic. There's no need to go into what happens during the show. Singing, speechin', jokes, it's everything you could want from a one man musical show about William Shakespeare. And this from a guy who usually does full-blown musicals with a full cast and a six piece band. Watching the engine of those shows run by itself at full throttle for an hour will be one of the high points of your Fringe. Don't walk, run. FULL DISCLOSURE: Mr. Fisher also rocks the boards in a show I do. But I don't play favorites. I would... full review

My first Fringe standing ovation - and so well deserved! This is my first Fringe, and my first time seeing Michael Earl Fisher on stage. And what a wonder to behold!! From the smallest rhyming whisper to U2 references he draws us in as he weaves a rompish retelling of Shakespeare’s life. The live music, simple set and exquisite costume set the stage for Fisher’s fabulous energy. I must admit, I’ve occasionally been swayed to the doubter’s camp. But Shakespeare’s Last Night Out has brought me firmly back into the welcoming arms of Shakespeare As Author. This is a piece I hope has a life as long as the Bard.... full review

Michael Shaw Fisher is brilliant...simply stated. He brought Willy Shakes back to life, and connected all the dots along the way! Even though I am not as familiar with all of the historical and literary references, I was still able to follow the story perfectly. THIS IS A MUST MUST SEE! Audience interaction, playful humor and if you love Shakespeare, then you'll certainly be delighted with this one man show. And the musicians, JEEZ! Equally as talented and brilliant, their timing and skill is spot on! Mad props to this stellar cast! ... full review

Ever see a show and snort quietly, smugly to yourself, "I could do that"? I have never once said that watching Michael Shaw Fisher. My head was about to fly off my neck trying to figure out which element had me reeling the most. "It's the near-demented commitment to character. No, No, it's the shockingly inventive lyrics. Nope, the most jaw dropping thing is the music itself. Fuck it...I give up." At root, the best thing about this show is the certainty you'll have that Fisher is KILLING himself to entertain the hell out of you. He leaves everything on that stage just so YOU can have an amazing time. That sick generosity is everything. ... full review

Being in a Tavern with Shakespeare was everything! It's clear Michael Shaw Fisher immersed himself in studying the life and times of Willy, but it's his storytelling that makes this show, so you need not be a Shakespeare aficionado yourself. His writing is witty and nostalgic and delivers us, brilliantly, Shakespeare mocking his work! His character is as enthralling as his dedication to it. His renaissance, folk, rock, and even drunken bar inspired composition is so catchy! And those musicians! Such eclectic instruments filling the tavern. His voice inflections are really what had me. All the little nuances, some comical and some, well, a little sad. If it wasn't for my bladder, I would have never let him leave that Tavern. Speaking of bladd... full review

One of the most surprising offerings at this year's Fringe. Here's a "one-man" show that actually feels like a play! With book, music, lyrics by Michael Shaw Fisher, we visit an Elizabethan pub where we are regaled by stories and songs from none other than Shakespeare, played by Mr. Fisher, who drunkenly fears that history will call him out for NOT writing his plays, so he proves to us, his pub-mates, that he is indeed the verified scribe of the famous folio. By turns funny and emotional, it's clear that director Jeff Sumner understood that the event (which takes place on Shakespeare's last night on earth) is grounded in reality. Also stunning is the Elizabethan music, played by Alistair Cooper on guitar, and Allison Sulock on a variety of R... full review

This is a brilliant work. It hits on so many levels. Michael Shaw Fisher is simply amazing. The story, the masterful performance, the songs, the pacing....I could go on and on. Fisher takes the density of the material and makes the Bard accessible to all. I was blown away. This is a Fringe MUST SEE! Bravo to all involved! Bravo!... full review
