My favorite show at the Fringe so far! I would go see this one again, I enjoyed it so much. Please, don't miss out on this one. The writing and acting were amazing and all the technical aspects of the show came together beautifully to tell this story. I was emotionally captivated the entire time and am still thinking about it days later. You will not regret seeing this one.... full review

Absolutely heartbreaking. Any story about Berlin in the 1930s must be heartbreaking - one goes in assuming it can't end well. Yet we immediately root for these sisters anyway, as completely charming and deserving and maybe just clever enough to survive the brutal intolerance of the Nazi regime. This is a fascinating historical piece, with stunningly strong performances by Emily and Elizabeth Hinkler. Well done.... full review

I have to say, this is one of my favorites so far....The acting between the girls was bold and captivating. The had me from the first scene. The connection that the actresses have together is powerful yet you instinctively know they KNOW who they are as individuals as well. I was overall impressed with how I was touched and left wanting more. I an not by any means a history buff or would normally find myself watching plays on these particular topics but this play has opened my eyes to the history I have neglected and it makes me hunger for more. I told the person I saw the play with that these two girls are ones to look our for, listen for and remember because they WILL do great things, they will go on to be legendary. The sky is the li... full review

"My Sister" is one of the best shows I've seen at Fringe this year. Emily and Elizabeth Hinkler are absolutely captivating as sisters in 1934 Berlin each trying to chase their dreams and ultimately survive the coming disaster. The script is beautifully written and expertly performed. I still was trying to catch my breath for hours after this show. Poignant and sincere, "My Sister" is one of this year's theatrical gems. It's at The Underground (and frankly, it takes a LOT for me to see anything off of Theatre Row!) but it's worth the trip 10 times over. Go see it! ... full review

Emily and Elizabeth Hinkler are an incredibly unique pair whose talents absolutely shine in "My Sister". They carry Janet Schlapkohl's script effortlessly as both are electric throughout their performances. An entirely dialogue-based show, it could be easy to be bogged down by the language, but the Hinklers glide through the dark world of pre-war Berlin with invigorating energy, aided by the masterful direction of Paul David Story. And despite the location and subject matter, there is wonderful humor sprinkled throughout, never making light of the cerebral palsy inhabited by one sister, or the never-ending artistic struggle of the other. Subtlety is key in the show, so that when the girls do get to revel in their cabaret performances, we rel... full review
