Fiona Lakeland's writing is uniquely poignant and her performance as Holly is effortlessly natural. Whenever she is onstage, it just feels like she is so at ease and living in every moment. Her writing touches on truly relevant material in the land of modern relationships/friendships. I also loved how multi-faceted her female characters were. Melanie Alexander brings such truth and humor to the best friend in love with Stefan. These relationships make you question...are we ever really happy with the people we choose? Or is it human nature to wonder what would happen if we crossed the boundaries of friendship with our closest friends of the opposite sex? The entire cast brings you into this world of intimacy and the challenges that come ...

Fiona was raw, real and vulnerable. To see her in her work and shine so bright was a real pleasure. Her ensemble was fabulous and they shared the piece with love & care. ...

A moody, fractured relationship piece anchored by Fiona Lakeland's luminous stage presence, "Can't Take My (Eyes) Off Of You" is more a series of impressions than a linear story. The technical elements in the transitions are deftly handled and lend a lovely, haunting quality to the play. The transitions inform the action rather than distract from it. A softly impressionistic sweep of a play punctuated and guided by Lakeland's performance....

Beautifully written in 8 vignettes over the course of 50 minutes, the show balances the languid nature of everyday relationship dialog with a staccato constantly leaping plotline. It drives toward its finish through a series of scenes that leave the audience as cliffhung as the characters themselves.
If you've ever been in a relationship or thought about being in a relationship, the content is for you. Ably helmed by Adrian LaTourelle and finely acted by Fiona Lakeland, Melanie Alexander, and Jeff Bowman, with clever set design by I don't know who, "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" also provides the requisite glimpse of beautiful bodies that makes the title appropriate. Stop in to Theatre of Note if interested....

CAN’T TAKE MY (EYES) OFF OF YOU By Fiona Lakeland * ½
This is a play told in flashbacks, about a cute but wimpy guy, Stephan (Jeff Bowman), caught between two beautiful women. There’s Katherine (Melanie Alexander), a zaftig blonde with a gorgeous head of hair and a pleasant disposition, who has been his long time, platonic bosom buddy. His new love interest is Holly, (playwright Fiona Lakeland), a stunning, tall brunette who is moody, petulant, but exciting. It’s fun to listen to them bicker, even before the scheduled nuptials, like an old married couple that’s been getting on each other’s nerves for decades. The rest of the dialogue consists of a lot of small talk, the ending is unresolved and the story as redundant as the second “of” i...

This was only 45 minutes long not the 75 minutes that it says. It wasn't worth my time to come over here tonight to see it.
I had a hard time hearing the male actor....
