Ann has a real gift w/ nuanced characters. whereas some performers might don a wig, work accents, or wear different hats (literally) she navigates different characters w/ aplomb. really impressive...

Ann Loud's solo show, Trench, is a story and character-rich deep-sea dive of immense wit and flair. Clad in a bright yellow jumpsuit with just a lone box on-stage, Loud portrays five different crew members trying to salvage their sinking ship, each unique and nuanced.
From the fearful and flirtatious, to the maniacal and bold, her vocalizations and facial reactions truly grab the audience and never let go. Bravo!...

One of my favorite shows at fringe. A tour de force of characters, with a pace that does not stop until the show is complete. Very imaginative, fun with twists and turns in a location I've never seen enacted onstage before!...

submarine
Ann Loud is a most likeable character, a joy to watch and listen to. She has a talent for drawing us immediately into her world. The world she is creating. In this story, Ann effortlessly plays 5 unique characters - divers on a submarine submerged in the deepest waters for 200 days to do research. Each with their quirks and neediness and purpose which sometimes clash with each other and sometimes bond others. About halfway through the show, I felt like I had become an investigative reporter, as there is definitely something "fishy" - no pun intended -happening in this claustrophobic chamber. The reveal is shocking and painful and a doozie. Puppetry will help us breathe through the pain..we hope. ...

This is a must see! Dazzling storytelling, precise, specific, funny and heartfelt. I was totally along for the ride on this underwater thriller, understood every character and plot point, which is saying something considering one performer plays five characters. Laughed my ass off a bunch too. Marvel studios could take a lesson in storytelling from this piece. ...

A performance showing true depth (a submersible joke) and hilarity throughout. I was immediately captivated by each character and fell in love with all of them by the end. The structure flowed seamlessly and the innate creativity Loud exemplifies in her work is a delight! ...
