It’s been a journey of cat-a-strophic proportions…
In Cindy’s words~
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is heartbreaking. I had never experienced an animal dying before, so when my first of four cats, Samantha, passed away in 2014, I was inconsolable. Six months later, my beloved Spencer kitty suddenly died. I was beyond devastated. I held onto my two remaining cats, never going out of town and always being on time to feed them.
At this time, I had somewhat abandoned what I came to LA for: To pursue my acting career! Since my identity had been wrapped up for over 20 years with taking care of my cats, as well as volunteering for rescue organizations, I sensed I would soon be losing my identity.
And then it happened. My last two beloved felines, Tabatha and Tallulah, crossed over the rainbow bridge.
The grief was overwhelming. I sat frozen in a cat-less apartment with 5 litter boxes painfully asking:
“Who am I without my cats??”
So, I started writing as a way to process my grief. Writing clears my mind, it is cat-hartic. I also wanted to get back to doing what I love to do which is to ACT!
In 2016, two other classmates and I had our first HFF exxperience! I performed a 20-minute show called CAT-A-HOLICS as part of An Unlikely Threesome.
Audience Apawwwws!!!!
Thus began the solo show journey…
…as written in the third person : -)
In 2018, Cindy wrote, produced and performed her first full length HFF show, It’s Easier To Love A Cat. She played her beloved felines and the audience reviews were spectacular(check them out here).
Moving forward with no paws, in 2019, Cindy performed Cat Sh!t Crazy at the Whitefire Solofest and Binge Fringe Festival winning Best of Audience and Audience Sweet Award through Better Lemons.
In 2023, Cindy’s dream came true when she performed Cat Sh!t Crazy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! Directed by the multi-talented Ann Noble, Cindy’s show at Edinburgh stood out receiving 4 and 5 star reviews and mega love from the Scottish folk. They love their cats and they loved this show!
In addition to theater, Cindy has been featured in commercials, infomercials, TV, film, web series and print, including twice in Italian Vogue, and was a prominent member of The Actor’s Gang for many years.
Cindy has also been part of The Rogue Machine’s Rant & Rave story telling series as well as Iron Skirts Stories Salon.
Along with her Rant & Rave performance in 2024, Cindy wrote, performed and produced a workshop presentation of Cat Sh!t Crazy Part 2: A Fresh Step at HFF24. She was also in the play The Last Flight Out which earned a semi-final spot at the short + sweet festival.
In addition to acting, Cindy has had a decades long career as a personal trainer and aqua aerobics instructor. Soon, a memoir and a show about her 30+ years as a personal trainer and fitness instructor- juicy stuff and also very healing! That’s a cat of a different color!!
“Each time I step on stage, I feel like it’s my wedding. All of my favorite people in the world coming together to share our hearts, our creativity, our love of storytelling.”
Meows and purrs~
