Ben’s Viking Trip is a surreal and soul-stirring one-act musical that blends humor, heart, and hallucinogens. Starring the playwright himself, this heartfelt and hilarious journey follows a struggling artist who, during a mushroom trip, comes face to face with a Viking ghost from his ancestral line. What unfolds is a cathartic exploration of grief, creativity, and the strange ways we heal

I didn't have a clue what to expect walking into this musical, but the charm and heart was evident from the very first note. There is a wonderful dynamic that Ben Boquist's music brings to the stage that simply delights, and Ben's Viking Trip is a special addition to this year's Fringe Fest. Ben is a true musical theatre composer with a distinctive voice and charisma. He knows how to tell a simple and honest story, but with musical complexity, clever harmonies, and endless spirit. You're always in good hands with this guy at the helm. There are real Jonathan Larson vibes that come to mind when I hear Ben's music. ...

Short and sweet little musical about millennial dread and all the anxiety that comes with it! Although Boquist has a distinctive musical voice (both on the page and in his literal vocal stylings), this show reminded me many times of the works of Jonathan Larson. The tortured artist "what will I do with my life" musical is nothing new, but Boquist imbues his show with a particularly modern and whimsical take on the subject. An overall lovely show!...

This is one trip you have to take!! Had way too much fun experiencing the existential millennial fever dream that was Ben’s show. Despite its somber moments there is so much hope baked into the show and was such a thoughtful intersection of religion and lgbtq liberation through the anguish of creatives trying to make our mark on the world. Great singing, costuming, and visuals. More Viking numbers please, and shoutout Monty Python🤘🏼. ...
