Zander Raphael has combined a simultaneously funny and thought provoking premise with a love letter to the Fringe, where he uses his “department” to showcase performances from OTHER Fringe shows. Wow I had such a surreal and fun time in the Complaints Dept. walkthrough experience. The planning and coordination that went into this piece really shows - it felt like journeying through an absurd dimensional building with strange new beings trapped behind each door! We were efficiently shuffled between rooms, inside and outside and through hallways by the hilarious and charming guide and delightfully dry and cryptically confusing Box Office person. I loved all the performances and got a kick out of them not really solving any of our complaints - just comically hearing us out! ... full review

This was overall fab use of performers and space. Complaints Department started on the street getting folks lining up to bond via the 100 Things, which distracted from slight delay and got us talking with each other. So smart and fun! I loved this show! What a wild ride of a fantasy-multidimensional-corporate-caricature of classic work bureaucracy. I got a comp ticket with my girl friend and had no idea what I was going to be pulled into…you start by getting a name tag and filling out your complaint on a form. Then, you get a guided tour of the different departments. It was an exciting adventure. I was greatly impressed of the timing and overall cohesion of the whole production. The Complaints Dept is an absurd and surreal satire of corporate mundanity, and I appreciated just how interactive and diverse it was! Each character brought their own spin on engaging with each person's complaints. The experience has you on your feet in different spaces that engage you with a different kooky character.... full review
