In classic Mike Hadge fashion, this hilarious and instructive send-up doesn't just ridicule, but it also tosses a lifeline to anyone who has, perhaps unknowingly, slipped into cartoonish cynicism, living in a world of self-important assumptions, regarding many around them that they haven't taken the time to get to know. Unsurprisingly, James Byous, along with the entire cast and band, blew the doors off and melted faces in this unique, soul-searching, gut-wrenching, and preeminent story told in just the right way. Inventive, heartbreaking, funny, poignant, Aaron Francis' script keeps us in intriguing anticipation the whole way though, and Jen DeRosa and Jules Bruff carry the load, spinning yarns towards oblivion; even if there is perhaps a solution that hasn't occurred to them yet. A hurricane of Hal comes at you non-stop in this hilarious and introspective look at, just one example of specific insanity, we are learning seems to be emblematic of this bizarre world we all have been thrust into. In this absolute blast of a show, we are all swept away to the dank and deep of the Caribbean, so much so that I could smell the sea air and coral and hear the seagulls too. Inventive vocal arrangements and a plethora of instrumentation mixed in as well, culminated in an nicely balanced and charming show, that I could easily see playing 4 or 5 times a day at any appropriately themed Park, Ren Faire, Cruise Ship, or Pub corner.
