Robin Walsh

My Sister

Wonderful, touching, poignant and pointed - especially in today's increasingly polarized society. The care and heart both Elizabeth and Emily put into this piece showed with every word. I cannot wait to see both where they take this, and what they do next. ... full review

King of Kong: A Musical Parody

robin walsh · June 28, 2015 certified reviewer
Wow... And here I thought the documentary was pinnacle of video game WTF-ness. But no... King of Kong: A Musical Parody knocks its 8-bit socks off! Hunt and Van Kurin burn up the stage (and some backstage quick change space) with this fast paced, hilarious show. If you've ever wanted to leave a show humming a song about butt wiping - this is it!! Loved it!... full review

The 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championships

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 uncertified reviewer
I’m planning on creating my first one “man” show, so naturally I HAD to see 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championships. So I could see what the "rules” are. And boy did I ever!! A hilarious send up of a great genre. It’s a solid, hilarious show yet still respectful of the very thing it was spoofing. The entire cast was amazing, and I will live happily ever after with the vision of Jim Hanna turning in circles on stage. Thank you, one and all!... full review

Combined Artform's Pick of the Fringe

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 certified reviewer
So glad this exists. As it states on it’s page “Too many shows and not enough time?” Pick of the Fringe gives us a crystal ball, a chance to view beyond what our schedule may allow. Or the chance to change that schedule when you catch a glimpse of heretofore unknown brilliance. I only made one PotF performance this year. But next year - I’m staying for the entire run! Thank you Combined Artform - your judges choose true! ... full review

BEYOND - Unemployed. Finally.

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 certified reviewer
Through her life and 30+ jobs, Heather Dowling allows us to join her story, and see many of our own day to day struggles - only with a lot more chutzpah, candor, sheer number and entertainment value. She’s able to go from OMG ironic to heartbreaking in a flash, but is always there to give you hope for what will come next. And I do hope what comes next is amazing. Unemployed. Finally. is so wonderful, I am afraid it will mean Heather will get a job. But one she actually wants. Congratulations!... full review

U and Me and My Best Friend P

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 certified reviewer
It meant much for you to share - But it meant more to see and care about U and yours, and M E and mine, to laugh and cry about boys and vines, how childhood’s entwined with spoken glass. We learned sometimes, one must be an ass. Oh, I loved your show, dearest Abby, It was amazing, your work’s not shabby! I cannot wait to see some more, to laugh, and cry and perhaps abhor the crazy things you'll show and speak, The mess you’ll make, the joys... full review

La La La Strada

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 certified reviewer
If you liked Halfwit’s - then this show is a MUST. With exquisite clowning, music, circus and puppetry, it succeeds in being more than the sum of it’s parts. It draws you into Fellini’s dream world, as it tells the story behind the filming of Fellini’s La Strada. Coming from out of town, and being over at the Actor’s Company will make it a hard sell for many. But if you catch one show - make this one it. ... full review

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

robin walsh · June 23, 2015 certified reviewer
My first Fringe standing ovation - and so well deserved! This is my first Fringe, and my first time seeing Michael Earl Fisher on stage. And what a wonder to behold!! From the smallest rhyming whisper to U2 references he draws us in as he weaves a rompish retelling of Shakespeare’s life. The live music, simple set and exquisite costume set the stage for Fisher’s fabulous energy. I must admit, I’ve occasionally been swayed to the doubter’s camp. But Shakespeare’s Last Night Out has brought me fir... full review

Am I a Grownup Yet?

If you’re looking for a wonderful hour of storytelling, with added joys of whimsical shadow and toy theatre - then look no further than Am I A Grownup Yet! Grayson Morris has a great, unaffected charm that draws you in. Despite dabbling in puppets myself, I found the parts where she simply tells her tales to be the most engaging. As many of the other reviews, I can’t wait to see where she goes next - and to hear the stories she tells about it!... full review
