What happens when you take Marie Antoinette of the French Revolution, add in some clown work, lots of rhyme schemes, a few quirky songs, and a supporting cast of players? You get Julie Perkin's Gilded Rage, naturally.
The show makes its own rules, breaks the fourth wall, interacts with the audience (and a knight in shining armor), all while trying not to break character. Sometimes, this proved to be particularly challenging. However, all the performers look like they are having a blast on sta...

My One Woman Show (The Search for a Truthful Moment)

What do you get when you take a White Older MAN and watch him try to create a solo show? I'd say you get an honest peek at his soul. From the start, the fourth wall is broken and Stefan Marks engages with the audience, almost as if explaining the difficulties of creating a show that contains not only truthful moments, but also a clear beginning, middle and end.
His performance style mixes conversation with awkward glances and actions with self-deprecating humor, and painful recollections. And...

Sarah Ruhl is arguably one of the best contemporary female playwrights in American Theatre. Her work speaks for itself and yet, this show is elevated in the very capable hands of Contempo Productions. Indeed, they deliver an impeccable showing of her farce, "Melancholy Play" at this year's Fringe.
What starts as a series of therapy sessions for Tilly (played by a revelatory Madeleine Ince) evolves into desperate searches for love, or more appropriately, happiness. While her melancholy attracts...

She's at it again! Actress/playwright Lani Harms is back at this year's fringe with a longer, more
developed solo piece highlighting the rather unfortunate world of Tarantino's female characters.
While bringing back certain favorites from her last show (i.e., The Bride and Mia Wallace), she expands their storylines to the delight of the audience! I mean, who wouldn't want to see Beatrix Kiddo from the Kill Bill franchise at a parent-teacher conference?
Moreover, Harms introduces audience...

This might very well be the most foppish musical to hit the Fringe! And for those like myself, who come in knowing nothing about the original source material, you'll do just fine. Taken from the "best" worst movie ever made, this show is chock full of characters, songs, dances and a never-ending supply of camp.
Poor little Joshua (Tiffany Asta) just cannot get his family to believe him about the true occupants in Nilbog, where they've moved. It's only with Grandpa Seth's (Eric Gellar) help tha...

In Amy Dong's and Mason Ma’s play, The Liftist, it is best to expect the unexpected. Within the confines of the typical fringe categories, this play does not really fit within those boundaries. Specifically, the play jumbles worlds of comedy, absurdism, fantasy, realism, and AI drama into a melting pot.
At 75-minutes long, the play is unique unto itself. Relationships are tested, contracts are made and a prop toilet is used (frequently). Insert potty humor here.
No worries... the audience ...

The Unknown Artists showcase a dramedy worthy of life well-beyond the Fringe. In their joint collaboration, playwrights Pamela Eberhardt and Dan Testa offer up the unsettling, "On the Line."
For a trio of Seattle-based crisis hotline workers, help is only a phone call away. It's about maintaining professionalism, not judging, and staying calm. Isn't it? What happens when the calls start sharing a common thread of dread?
Past trauma never really leaves a person. And, regardless of whoe...

Talisa Friedman's play, So Baby, is a slice-of-life dramedy. The play showcases three unique freshman roommates, each dealing with her own set of issues.
First, there is Miri (Emily Hope Turner) who is the Jewish, eager-beaver, boy-crazy, academic talker. Joining her is Jordyn (Ciara Cain), the independent, strong-willed, Black Student Union participant. Finally, there is Roksana (Diana Malota), the Russian model who uses any tools in her tool-belt to advance in life.
In most triangle scen...

Global traveler, Mike Blaha delights in his stand-up comedy fringe show, International Joke. In it, he shares various jokes he has learned from each country he's visited whilst sharing humorous events that happened in multiple locations.
Ever the calm, cool intellectual, Blaha is matter-of-fact in his delivery. He lauds his life as a "Digital Nomad" which afforded him a new life away from California in Albania.
With a full zest for adventure and a thirst for a new fringe show, he abandons ...
