Carol M. Becker is a Director/Dramaturg/Performer currently living in Los Angeles. She is the current Artistic Director of NEO Ensemble Theatre (https://www.neoensembletheatre.org/about/).

Partial list of Regional Directing credits: Elegies (HFF 2026), I’ll Be With You Shortly, Sister from Another Planet (HFF 2023), Dismissed (HFF 2022), Boy Crazy Psycho Slut (HFF 2023 & 2021), Basement Folly, The Christmas Spirit, I Love You Because, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Violet, Beau Jest, A Murder is Announced, For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, and What Have We Learned (Beyond the Horizon). Assistant Directing credits include: Mrs. Warren’s Profession (A Noise Within), Beauty and the Beast (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), Procreation, A Man’s a Man, and The Chicago Conspiracy Trial (Odyssey Theatre Ensemble).

As a Dramaturg, she has extensive experience working on new play development with many local playwrights including: Dan Perry, Consuelo Flores, Stephen Blackburn, Beth Polsky, Mona Deutsch Miller, and Matthew Kamm.  

As a performer and improviser, Carol has performed in plays, musicals, stand-up comedy, and long-form improvisation. A lifelong theatre lover, Carol received her BFA in Acting from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She also has “half” of an MFA in Directing (long story). A big state-hopper, she has lived and trained in New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

For theater company, Fierce Backbone, she was both Lead Producer and a Director for their past two Think & Imagine festivals at the Zephyr. Think & Imagine showcased original works of 24 playwrights and had 86 participants.

Presently, she is a member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society (SDC) and Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).  Additionally, she was an appreciative participant of the 2016 Directors Lab West.
