SHAKESLESQUE (To Thine Own Cherry Be True)

Oh how I love me some Cherry Poppins! I honestly can't remember the last time I've had this much fun at a Fringe show (well, probably the last time I saw CPP, heh!). Seriously, if you have not yet had the pleasure of experiencing this phenomenal company, do yourself a favor and RUN don't walk to Three Clubs to see their next performance! This clever take on the Bard is brilliant, and I love the different intertwining storylines, the comedy and the twist at the end! Not to mention the incredible d... full review

The Faggot King or The Troublesome Reign of Edward II

School Of Night wowed me last year with their debut show Punch And Judy at The Hollywood Fringe Festival, and I honestly wasn’t sure how they would top it. But, my oh my how they have delivered and then some with The Faggot King or the Troublesome Reign of Edward II. It is all about precision and detail in Christopher Johnson’s masterful direction. It’s brilliant how he has the cast perform many of the scenes completely to the audience in a presentational style. Linda Muggeridge’s costumes are go... full review

THANKSGIVING

esther mira · June 14, 2017 uncertified reviewer
Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorite shows I have ever seen at Hollywood Fringe. It’s quirky, fun and hilarious, but also very moving as it’s all about one family’s (rather dysfunctional) Thanksgiving Dinner. The cast is extremely strong and each actor fully embodies their character. It’s interesting to see how each character relates to the others in such an intimate setting (the majority of the play takes place around the Thanksgiving Dinner table). The direction by Kitty Lindsay is on po... full review

MexiStani! Growing Up Mexican & Pakistani in America

Sofie Khan is a masterful storyteller who had me in a whirlwind of emotions. A true tour-de-force, I was fully engaged the entire time. Sofie weaves a beautiful story which includes her life growing up, her parents and her experiences being Mexican and Pakistani among other things. She commands the stage in such an energetic and passionate way, it is quite wonderful to see. I loved watching her story unfold in front of my eyes. Do not miss this show! Only one performance left!!!... full review

THE PLEASURE PROJECT

The Pleasure Project is a must-see show at this year's Fringe! Ava Bogle fully embodies all of the characters she portrays in a hilarious, charming, sexy and delightful way. Although the tone of this show is comedic (I was laughing throughout!), it touches on very important topics. I can't wait to see where Ava takes this show next!... full review

Three Can Keep A Secret

Three Can Keep A Secret is so much fun! I was laughing from beginning to end. I love the audience participation aspect of it, and feel the cast does a wonderful job with Greg Crafts's brilliantly written script. Jacob Smith's direction is fantastic and he takes full advantage of Studio/Stage's beautiful space. I definitely recommend seeing this hilarious and clever show at Fringe!... full review

Punch and Judy

Punch And Judy is phenomenal! Congratulations to Ryan Beveridge, the production's Foley Artist/Percussion/Sound Designer who supports and lifts the entire ensemble. The cast is fantastic, but Jimmy Slonina is the standout as Punch. His performance alone makes this show a must-see, but fortunately the rest of the ensemble are so strong and grounded that they balance out Slonina's manic energy. Christopher Johnson's direction and Jen Albert's fight choreography pull off what could very easily have ... full review

Lamprey: Weekend of Vengeance

Lamprey: Weekend Of Vengeance is a fast-paced, energetic, in your face show filled to the brim with comedic genius and hilarity. I honestly can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Peter Fluet's writing is spot on and to put it simply: brilliant. The entire ensemble is perfectly cast with the incredible Carrie Keranen leading the way. Seriously, Carrie Keranen is an unstoppable force and so insanely talented! This is one show not to be missed at Fringe. One of my favorites this year for su... full review

Alien Vs. Musical

Alien Vs. Musical is a really fun show with great music and a unique story. It's so neat to see so many beloved musical theatre characters on stage at the same time. Allie Costa is perfectly cast as Annie and puts her all into the role. It is worth seeing this show for her phenomenal performance alone!... full review

#WhaleFail

Fantastic writing combined with a stellar ensemble cast and clever directing, I highly recommend seeing #WhaleFail at this year's Fringe. Brett Epstein's writing is outstanding and the story he tells is funny, poignant and heartbreaking. Sherry Berg is especially wonderful to watch as she leads the extremely well-rounded cast throughout the piece. A very moving show not to be missed!... full review
