What I liked
Absolutely everything! Seriously, School of Night has once again knocked it out of the ballpark. The costumes are simply beautiful, having the actors sing a cappella choral music throughout is stunning and adds another layer to the show as a whole, the direction is flawless, the fight choreography is some of the best you will ever see, and each actor is spectacular in his/her respective role(s).

My overall impression
School Of Night wowed me last year with their debut show Punch And Judy at The Hollywood Fringe Festival, and I honestly wasn’t sure how they would top it. But, my oh my how they have delivered and then some with The Faggot King or the Troublesome Reign of Edward II. It is all about precision and detail in Christopher Johnson’s masterful direction. It’s brilliant how he has the cast perform many of the scenes completely to the audience in a presentational style. Linda Muggeridge’s costumes are gorgeous and (without giving anything away) fit the time period wonderfully. Jen Albert’s fight choreography is incredible and the swordplay is especially magnificent to watch. You can tell all of the actors are very well trained in stage combat which makes for really exciting scenes. The ensemble sings throughout the show which adds a beautiful, haunting depth to everything. And the actors themselves are perfectly cast, with clear diction and understanding of the language to make for a truly stellar production! DO NOT miss this show at Fringe!
