Tepid pacing and some questionable story directions make what could have been an outstanding debut for Laughlin feel more like a baby step in a direction that could be right OR wrong, depending on time. What a delight from top to bottom. A crackerjack script with electric performances from its young cast. Tackles some weighty issues that teens face (I know I sure faced them) in an upbeat and approachable way, but never feels preachy or message-oriented. A personal and entertaining dive into the vulnerabilities and eccentricities associated with an active sexual life. Alan takes us on a remarkably poignant journey from 1st grade thru his early-30's, and he's an effortlessly engaging storyteller, setting the audience at ease, and developing a fluid and well-paced structure that makes the time fly by (not always the case with solo shows).... full review

A mostly successful attempt at one of the most important young adult plays of the past couple decades. "Dog Sees God" has always connected with young people in a deep way. I, myself, have directed a production of it, and starred as "CB" in a separate production. Performances were universally fantastic, with particular praise to Jacob Martinez as "CB" (a swing btw), Anthony Turpel (the best "Van" I've seen yet), and Isabella Coben (a "Trisha" for the ages).... full review

What a fantastic way to kick off Fringe 2024. A deft combination of overt silliness and startling drama, injecting a message here and there along the way. I don't know that the message sticks the landing, but the messengers sure do. I was hooked throughout and never knew precisely where it was going.... full review

A scatological ride through a cavalcade of ridiculous, over-the-top, 'salt of the earth' folks trying to 'get one over' on the U.S. government. Filled with laughs, it doesn't have much of a message, but it's a damned fine amount of fun.... full review
