This show is hilarious! From the curtain speech through the final farewell, it's a ton of fun, with some really smart comedy mixed in with wonderfully lowbrow sex jokes and physical gags. The "acrobatic twins" may be the most brilliant (and stupid) part of the show... and there's also some real heart as well, with a narrative through line that really sustains the audience's interest. This show was totally ridiculous in the most wonderful way. Combining the high art of opera with the "low" humor of silly, sketch-style comedy, Belli Gemelli manages to embrace its own over-the-top premise and completely go for it. The show has all the imaginativeness of a couple kids playing make-believe, but is performed by genuinely talented and classically trained singers who really elevate this show with great execution. Milford is hilarious, and a great time at the theatre. The music is outstanding and I was humming a couple of the songs to myself the next day. It's a clever mix of self-aware musical-theatre jokes (in the vein of Title of Show) and satiric social commentary (a la Urinetown). At 90 minutes it's the perfect length- it feels like an evening's entertainment but doesn't overstay its welcome. Go! ... full review
