Vote for Tom Ryan

james ferrero · June 22, 2024 certified reviewer
Vote for Tom Ryan is a bitingly funny satire that packs so much into 30 minutes without becoming confusing. Hilarious, genuine performances keep us invested as our "heroes" make the final slog on election night. Between this and What The Chuck?!, political satire is alive and well at Fringe.... full review

In For A Penny is a haunting, funny, and ultimately mind-bending experience as it asks the bigger questions of what being saved really means. Especially in the face of unrelenting terror. Strong performances, creative tech, I want to see more!... full review

"How can you live when everyone else just expects you to exist?" Maybe I'll Plant My Stories is an effective, moving, funny story about holding on to your imagination in the face of growing up. Final Girl: The Musical

Final Girl: The Musical lures you in with a classic horror trope. But the result is something far more complex, funny, and heartbreaking than you expect. Callie Ott takes command of the stage and never gives it up in a compelling performance that will stay with me for a while.... full review

I’ve Grown Plenty, Thanks!

With so many solo shows to see at Fringe, I've Grown Plenty, Thanks! stands out in its own way. Maria Bartolotta demands our attention from the start, then manages to both make us laugh then hit us right in the chest with some real, raw memories. A medley of song and speech, don't sleep on this one!... full review

Taking familial strife to new, unexpected places, The Road to Nowhere tells a humorous and heartbreaking story of flawed people trying to do better in spite of themselves. Grief Box

james ferrero · June 10, 2024 certified reviewer
Whereas so many pieces that deal with grief tend to wallow in the sadness, Grief Box finds the humor even in the most dire of situations. With a charismatic lead, witty script, tight direction, and creative production design, Grief Box is a one-of-a-kind solo show you won't want to miss.... full review

What the Chuck?!

james ferrero · June 09, 2024 certified reviewer
A fast-paced, razor-sharp show that manages to be both a silly love letter to theatre nerds as well as a darkly humorous satire about censorship. Plus with a unique structure that includes the audience, the rewatch value is quite high. If you want a hearty, belly laugh, do not miss this show!... full review
