I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like this. I've read A LOT of Chekhov and seen depressingly little of it and this was never my favorite piece. Chekhov is (similar to Brecht, but in a different way) really hard for Americans. BUT... this delighted me. Very smart choice on Brian Byrne's part taking advantage of the play's public domain status and making it his own. It was just delightful. ... full review
