MPAT's Burt Thunders Presents: The First Annual Fundraiser to Save the Whales

anonymous · June 07, 2026 certified reviewer
Such a funny and intriguing take on fame can take over, and a deep dive on character and madness. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time but also couldn't stop laughing. Love this show and so happy I could come see it! Burt is such a fascinating and well written character and I love that I got to feel like a part of the show as the audience watching it play out. Go check this one out! ... full review

I laughed, I cried. A powerful story of love, loss, forgiveness, and resilience. Rachel Murray as Taylor was phenomenal. The entire cast delivered heartfelt performances that drew me in from beginning to end. Redemption Song is a moving reminder that even after unimaginable loss, healing and forgiveness are possible. Beautifully written and performed. ... full review

Daring Goodly

This show was really impressive. It was a very polished tight comedy presentation that I wouldn't be surprised at all to see as a Netflix comedy special. I have found myself reciting some of my favorite lines over and over since seeing this show. I have not stopped thinking about hilarious lines like "guns are the bullets of metaphors" - so much so that I think I may even be making sense of the nonsense the more I think about it. The fact that practically every line of this show feels like a thro... full review

What Survives

kellie pleshinger · June 07, 2026 certified reviewer
WHAT SURVIVES is an incredibly powerful piece, reaching beyond the boundaries we place in our politically divided country to showcase the humanity in us all, while still highlighting the injustices in today's world and forcing the audience to look those directly in the eye. A really incredible look into many different lives and encapsulation of the way things can feel so out of control right now. ... full review

On the Line

ON THE LINE was an endlessly entertaining hour of tension stuck with these two characters inside a crisis call center. The acting was phenomenal and the writing snappy, really roping the audience in and letting them feel the fear alongside the main character.... full review

Yet another mind-bending renovation of Riley Smith’s Peter Jackson’s Tolkien classic. Missed the last 3? No worries, mate! Jump in here! Think you already know what happens? Fool of a Took! Smith and Cuomo prove they are still tricksy hobbitses with a few surprises that even Sauron’s great eye couldn’t see coming. On the Harmful Effects of Tobacco -- a Comedy by Anton Chekhov

adam frost-venrick · June 07, 2026 certified reviewer
I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I was going to like this. I've read A LOT of Chekhov and seen depressingly little of it and this was never my favorite piece. Chekhov is (similar to Brecht, but in a different way) really hard for Americans. BUT... this delighted me. Very smart choice on Brian Byrne's part taking advantage of the play's public domain status and making it his own. It was just delightful. ... full review
