What I liked

It really is a masterfully told story, utilizing only the simplest of staging to showcase the powerhouse performances. Its 100% sure to cut you deep and still haunt you 10-20 years from now.

What I didn't like

Stop reading this review. Just get the ticket before it sells out. And make sure that you don’t have something you need to do right after the show because it will punch you in the gut to leave you curled up on the floor. That’s all.

My overall impression

“Is this country for real?” is one of a few central questions at the heart of this human horror show, tucked neatly in an avalanche of moments that accelerate beautifully to its climax. It’s a no hold’s barred story of our America now, for better or worse. Sometimes audiences need to be reminded just how effective the medium of theatre can be in purging all the toxins of our country’s collective psychosis. “If I’m good” is a gloriously sobering reminder.

A lot of high accolades get thrown liberally around in fringe reviews: “ MUST SEE“ “PHENOMENAL” “BRILLIANT” etc.. I’ve been participating in Fringe for the last 12 years so I know how rarely shows, in reality, are any of those things…but this show is. And in particular, the performance of Scott Leggett who, even after years of continually growing my respect for his talent, has obtained a new level of Truth, compassion, and power in his craft with this particular character. Both actors commit completely without judgement, and don’t get in the way of their own heartbreaking avalanche.
