What a great time! Actor and author Penny Peyser has created a vibrant niche virtually all her own: she's on it with sonnets. Blending a retro "milady" vibe as a true contemporary eccentric, Peyser runs through a repertory of sonnets sung sweetly and with a marked inflection. It really has to be seen-and heard- to truly appreciate the work. ... full review

SONNETS FROM SUBURBIA is a clever, literate and funny one-person play starring and written by Penny Peyser. It’s adventurous and a little kooky and as such is kind of the perfect Fringe show.... full review

So entertaining on so many levels. Funny, clever, smart and very touching. Not to mention, covid current in sonnet form. Who would think of marrying those two. The erudite Penny P. That’s who. Don’t miss it!!!!!... full review

A delightful journey with Lady Penelope (Penny Peyser) through all the ins and outs of negotiating life during and after the pandemic, mostly through clever sonnets and songs. Ms. Peyser’s humor and insight is refreshing and thought provoking. Short and sometimes sweet! ... full review

Smart, funny and heartbreaking are difficult enough to pull off in the same piece, let alone in iambic pentameter. But that's Lady Penelope — always swinging for the fences and clearing the highest ones with grace, wit and no small amount of insight. "Sonnets From Suburbia" is as unexpected as it is unforgettable, meaning seriously unmissable. And for classical musical lovers, a ukulele is involved.... full review

As much fun as reading Penny’s “Sonnets from Suburbia” is, seeing Lady Penelope perform them takes the material to new heights. What’s clever on the page becomes hilarious on the stage. But wait, there’s more! The wraparound story she’s constructed adds a surprisingly emotional twist to the whole affair. The writing is top notch and the performance seamlessly stellar. A must see!... full review
