Brendan Hunt’s self deprecating humor puts us immediately at ease. We are on his side from the moment he begins. The story of his adventures in Amsterdam are laid out in a perfectly organized way after setting us up with an honest portrayal of his humble beginnings. ... full review

In this jubilant celebration of self, Brendan Hunt's "Five Years in Amsterdam" captures a crucial 5 year raucous journey of self-discovery. The prologue perfectly sets the audience on a rollercoaster ride of unexpected adventures ranging from sleeping in a barren studio apartment in Chicago, to a party in a Dutch Mansion that puts Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" to shame. Who knew "Boom Chicago" founder Andrew Moskos's way of saying "Boom Chicago!" is a character unto itself? If you have the chance to see it, do it immediately!... full review

I had no idea what to expect coming into the performance and was still amazed. Brendan Hunt is a master of the stage, incorporating a projected slideshow, intricate lights displays, various music cues, and sporadic costume changes to convey his story, all while engaging with the audience at every turn during every scene. His story was compelling and his manner of performing it deeply heartfelt, shockingly honest, and gut-wrenchingly funny. I would see it again any time that it's performed. Brendan isn't afraid to expose the rawest, most intimate facts of his life (and body) in sacrifice of telling a hilarious, heartwarming story.... full review

A top-notch storyteller doing what he does best - hydrating. No, I mean storytelling. Some people have incredibly interesting lives and some people talk about their lives in a very interesting way, but Brendan Hunt does both. ... full review

A delightfully joyous recollection of Brendan Hunt’s experiences that had me laughing, crying, and laughing again all in a short 50 minute experience. Brendan Hunt tells his story with the glitz, the glam, and the darkness that has clearly created this very funny and self-reflective entertainer who paints his euro-trash past on stage with dance, a slide show, and humor that can make the most stone-faced grin. The standing ovation at the end of the show was more than deserved, and if the remainder of his shows were not already sold out (for good reason) I would go again and again.... full review

His acting is wonderful & his writing may even surpass his acting abilities. He is unabashedly himself, & you can't help but love him.... full review
