What I liked

The peel-back-the-onion story-reveals throughout the show are marvelous and keep the audience engaged from the first moment. And the performances… fantastic. Each member of this stellar and accomplished ensemble of comedic actors rises to the level of the other, and Peter Fluet and Carrie Keranen set the bar high in their first scene. Innovative and inspiring, I loved the writing and directing. Can’t really put into words how much I liked this piece. Who else could be as heartwarming, earnest and endearing, while occasionally tapping into his nefarious reputation as a stone-cold killer, instilling fear and intimidation so easily into those attempting to ruin his evening? The list is short, and Fluet is at the top of it. He simply captures our hearts immediately and we root for him on his long-shot quest, because he’s just that charming. Impeccable performances. I might have mentioned that.

What I didn't like

Nothing comes to mind. Shout out to Victor Issac for effortlessly navigating the story through all of the twists and turns. With the limitations of rehearsal time, it is no easy thing. A true theatrical achievement!

My overall impression

An epic cluster of a first date gone nuclear, hitting all the right chaotic notes along the way, with a spot-on perfect cast and wonderful directing. Oh Lorraine is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen at Fringe. I realized afterward that this play is really my kind of show, the type of comedic writing that I love, so thanks to Peter Fluet for reminding me of that, and giving us a brilliantly shining diamond with this show.
