Powerful drama. Powerful performers. Powerful directing. All-in-all, this was a gripping piece of theatre presented on a sparse set that allowed all focus to be on the words and the performance. I came in not knowing anyone involved in this show and I left very moved and more informed about some of our veterans' experiences. We Got Your Six is a sober reminder of the brutalities of war and the extraordinary sacrifices made by the men and women who fight them. Paul Hoan Zeidler’s play is a tour de force in storytelling. With nothing but an empty stage and an excellent cast of seven, the narrative of one harrowing tour of duty in Afghanistan and its aftermath sucker-punches us with a dose of reality most of us in this country never have or will experience. Zeidler had the daunting task of weaving true stories from actual veterans to create a gripping, visceral picture in just sixty minutes that one is not soon to forget. From the writing to direction to performances, this show was unforgettable. It felt like such a raw glimpse into the human experience for something no one should ever have to face. To say there was any singular standout performance would be impossible. The entire cast carried the story in such a vulnerable, and powerful way. The actors were so perfectly cast and delivered performances only a true professional and human with such empathy and understanding of a story could. THE BEST SHOW in this year's Fringe lineup. I was moved by everyone's performance, especially Jessica's [Brittney DeLynn] portrayal. What a POWERFUL show. My boyfriend did two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and we were deeply grateful for the play write and the commitment of the actors to give a stellar performance.
