There are some astounding, and sometimes gory, visual effects in this show that are (I’m attempting to avoid spoilers here) achieved in a very clever way. From an elevator to a sewn-shut mouth, this play makes the impossible feel real. The play ends with an emotionally stirring musical performance, and I was deeply impressed by the cohesiveness of the cast, set, and writing. I highly recommend checking out this show (if you can get a seat!)
What I didn't like
Will someone please give this show an unlimited budget? I want to see this on Broadway.
My overall impression
Infierno is a hellish theatrical journey as magically absurd as it is beautifully tragic. I was amazed at the level of visual spectacle this show was able to achieve— I would love to see this on a big stage one day. This piece explores cultural, familial, and spiritual questions, and welcomes the audience to consider their own morality and mortality. The writing, acting, and direction were all beautifully executed, and I’m truly impressed by this show!
