30 Minute Musicals: SHOWGIRLS & JURASSIC PARK

OMG! What a riot - so glad I didn't miss it. DISCLAIMER ALERT - each portion is approximately 40 minutes long plus intermission/set change - total running time is approximately 1 hr, 45 mins long. With that being said, both of the shows were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed Jurassic Park, especially since my friend Tara Perry was sooooo amazing in it. The show was perfectly cast, and almost resembled the original cast of the movie. The action is non-stop, funny, quirky and the best two hours you'll ever spend anywhere! 30 Minute Musicals was such a delight! First came the hilarious parody of the classic Jurassic Park movies in which my favorite character, the T-Rex, sang about how he wanted to play with the humans and become their friend. Next came Showgirls and I was not quite as enthralled with this piece, but I have never seen the film. This is the story of a country girl climbing her way into the Vegas limelight. After going home and researching this movie, I concluded that this show was hilarious! Lindsay Ray captured the essence of this character while highlighting her own singing and dancing talents. SO FUN! don't miss it. I am a huge fan of action movies translated to the stage on low-budgets and this didn't disappoint. It knows EXACTLY what it is- and the camp is hilarious. Very funny performances make this smart and charming piece shine!... full review

This show is a fun way to spend 90 minutes. The first half is Jurassic Park and the second is Showgirls. It seemed that Jurassic Park was a bit more rehearsed and I think they probably could have just done that and the audience would have gone home completely happy. The star of Showgirls, Lindsay Wray does make the second half worth seeing, but the real treat of this show is Jurassic Park.
