What I liked

Healing comes in many forms and Rory had to walk her journey back down a painful childhood memory and embrace her own truth. Once she came face to face with the Pastor, those painful memories were rekindled and the bandaid of substance use no longer numbed or sedated the trauma she has lived with all her life.

What I didn't like

The pace of the story was sped up to fit the window of time and some of the essence was loss. This is to important of a story to rush through.

My overall impression

There are countless untold stories of musicians, such as Rory Tharpe, that have fallen prey and succumb to the politics and racism of the music industry. Her struggle depicts how many artist of color, were robbed of their success and mistreated by those they trusted. Having this type of platform. To tell the true story is what’s needed in this day and time. Wake up those that sleep…
