Most one-person shows appeal because of the performer, and a few because of the material. This one wins with both. Chamber Stevens' charming and authentic-feeling 19th century British high-society-mystery/romance is expertly conveyed first person through a half dozen distinct character voices. Delightful for both the material and Darbianna Dinsmore's skillful and endearing performance. I was dimly aware of the story wrapping around the events of Pride and Prejudice, sort of Rosencrantz-and-Guildenstern-Are-Dead-style, but I don't think any knowledge of that novel is necessary here. Distinctly non-period music gives a fun modern bite to the story's transitions.... full review

The 95% femme audience loudly liked Darbianna Dinsmore impersonating myriad characters major and minor, male and female, in her exactly 50-minute period solo yarn. Me too! She did OK, aided by period photo projections and frequent gulps of water and the story was a treat, about a Georgian country mouse and her rise and fall and rise again over the course of a single week more than two centuries ago! Not the "Jane Austen plays The 39 Steps" that I expected from the promotion, but an engaging trek to a little-probed historical period. ... full review
